The UK’s first physician for those with complex needs to be recruited in Hull

The UK’s first physician specialising in profound and multiple learning disabilities in the UK is set to be recruited in Hull later this year.

Read in The Guardian the story of Erica Carlin who three years ago, doctors had told Carlin’s family to prepare for her death. They said they could no longer treat the then 34-year-old, who has epilepsy and profound multiple learning disabilities.

Erica’s mum, Jeanne Carlin (Healthwatch Hull Advisory Board member) says “I am so pleased that the wholistic health care my daughter received has been featured so prominently in Guardian article about need for specialist physician for people with multiple disabilities and health conditions”
